Travelogue

This is the sixth month on the journey. The wall I hit in October spilled deep into November. Due to a combination of personal events that required me to devote time to items not related to this blog and a technical challenge with blog content very little visible progress was made in October.

The technical issue related to the How to Make a Text Adventure in Rust blog series. I'm working on post 9, and needed to understand Rust and the Serde crate much more fully than I did entering the month. Much reading, and learning later and after the creation of a throwaway project to experiment, I managed to sort things out late in the month entering the holiday break. Progress has resumed and I anticipate getting post 9 out in the first week of December.  Only 1 post this month (counting the November 1st travelogue).

With fewer posts, overall views slid for the second time since the blog started. The learning here is that activity matters. Not only did activity slide for the second month in a row, but lack of continued focus has caused indexed pages to decline!  I'm not sure what is going on there, but will be focusing on that after completing post 9 early in December.

Future Plans

My current focus is on completing post 9. Looking ahead, I'll work on the next posts in the series and in trying to understand where and how Google is reducing the number of indexed pages.
